The lead character, Kion is the second-born cub of the ruling pair, Simba and Nala; because of this, Kion has a special power called the Roar of the Elders; this power allows him to lead a small group of animals known as the Lion Guard.
Kion
Kion is the second child of King Simba and Queen Nala; his older sister is Kiara, who is next in line to rule the Pride Lands. Kion takes after his grandfather, Mufasa, with his golden coat and a red tuft of hair that would eventually be his mane. Kion has proven himself to be a responsible leader who takes care of his team and friends.
Fuli
Fuli is Kion’s friend and second in command of the Lion Guard. Fuli is a King Cheetah with remarkable speed power; she has the classic look of a cheetah with stripes on her face and spots on her body, even up to the white tip of her tail. She is a confident and independent character; she has proven herself to be a caring and loyal friend, earning respect as second in command over and over again.
Bunga
Bunga is Timon and Pumbaa’s adoptive nephew and Kion’s best friend. He is a young honey badger, and his specialty is his bravery! Though he can be arrogant and tends to leap before he looks, he is still loyal to Kion, and they balance each other well.
Beshte
Beshte can be described as a happy, carefree, kind-hearted hippo. He is slightly on the larger side of life, but his size only adds to his strength! His strength comes in handy more than once, but so does his soft-hearted nature; he’s laid back and doesn’t get upset easily. It’s clear why Kion chose him to be a part of the Lion Guard.
Ono
Ono, the Egret, was initially chosen to be a part of the Lion Guard because he had super sight, which allowed him to spot things the rest of the team would miss. Ono is also the pessimistic and realistic member of the group; he keeps them grounded but is also the first one to help out other animals in need.
Later in the series, Ono loses his gift of sight after a battle against Scar; it takes him time to deal with his loss. Kion recognized Ono for more than his sight; he saw Ono’s intelligence too. After Ono lost his sight, Kion gave him a new position as the Smartest member of the group.
